Tyler Texas is one of many East Texas towns that has their electric market deregulated. The positive to a deregulated energy market is the ability choose from multiple companies and rate plans.

The negative aspects are there too but I believe the positives far out weigh the negative. I remember when first moving into my own place in Tyler TX I was asked for an electric deposit from the monopoly electric utility.

I had no established credit and so I had to come up with the extra money. With the ability to choose your electric company in this area you don’t have to settle for paying a really high deposit just because you haven’t established any credit yet.

There are Tyler Texas electric companies that will allow you to order electricity service without having to come up with $300 or more.

The catch is that you will need to sign up with a prepaid light company. A prepaid electricity company is very similar to traditional energy suppliers accept they bill you upfront instead of 30 – 45 days later.

Some prepay light companies will estimate your electric usage based on the size of your home or apartment.

Other Tyler electric suppliers will use an advanced meter and a prepaid device that you slide a prepay card into similar to a credit card.

The device deducts the amount from the card based on your exact electric usage.

If you have a smart advanced meter I recommend choosing a prepaid electric provider that uses one as you only pay for what you use.

The alternative to the smart meter reading is estimated readings which usually are a little higher than your actual electric usage.

There is a company I have seen on TV in Tyler called Apollo Electric that offers prepaid electric service although we do not know much about them.

We have a comparison of a few no deposit prepaid electric providers that service Tyler if you need to search and find a good company with no deposit.

Just use the comparison chart at the top of this page to compare no deposit energy offers in Tyler TX.

Regarding East Texas Electric Cooperatives, Municipalities, and Monopoly Providers

Tyler is unique in that the city is surrounded by electric cooperatives who do not offer energy choice to their customers.

Places like Longview cannot compare competing electric supplier prices because there is only one energy company in this area.

Other electric Coop’s that exist are Cherokee County Coop, Deep East Texas Electric Coop, and East Texas Electric Coop.

Smith County Texas Electric Company Commercial Rate Comparison

In many ways commercial and residential electric rates are the same. The main difference between these two account types are the fact that residential load profiles are all the same.

Electricity providers can offer all the same rate plans no matter the customer when speaking to residential customers because none of them will cross a thresh hold that would increase the cost to the provider significantly.

Commercial businesses vary dramatically in how they use electricity. A large industrial manufacturing or chemical facility uses far more energy and in much different ways than a small smoothie franchise.

Because of variations even between restaurants and retail clothing stores commercial electric rates are priced individually by a provider based on how the business uses their energy.

The tailored made nature of a commercial energy price in Tyler TX usually means a more competitive rate. A stunning exception to this rule is if you have a Tyler church.

Churches will always pay way more for their electricity compared to what they use because of their KW demand. Electric companies charge you for both kilowatt hours used and how much is demanded.

Because a Tyler church demands energy all at once on Sunday they get hit with a large fee for this no matter the electric company they choose. This fee is more of a grid, transmission provider fee than a fee from the retail electric company.

Unfortunately there is no way out of these high cost TDSP fees for churches at this time until the PUCT and ERCOT choose to offer some type of relief to this type of operation as found in a church.

Regardless if you have a church that needs a commercial electric rate comparison or some other type of business we can help facilitate a reverse energy auction for your energy account.

To learn more about this topic and others please call one of our local Tyler TX commercial energy consultants at 1-800-971-4020.

When was the last time you considered your light bulbs as a potential way to conserve energy? If you are still using incandescent light bulbs, prepare to start using only CFL bulbs by 2014. Congress passed an energy conservation bill that puts a ban on all incandescent light bulbs by 2014. If you are not already using CFL bulbs in your Midland, Texas home, you would be wise to make the change now instead of waiting.

A good reason to change what kind of light bulbs you use is saving money. Since CFL bulbs use less energy than incandescent bulbs, you will save money on electricity costs. By replacing all of the bulbs in your home with CFL bulbs, you will quickly see a difference in your monthly bill. CFL bulbs might be a bit more expensive than incandescent bulbs but they will quickly pay for themselves. Since they last much longer than traditional bulbs, you will find yourself buying fewer bulbs and saving even more money.

In addition to changing your bulbs to CFL bulbs, you should consider switching electric providers. By using our chart, you can quickly compare the rates of Midland, Texas providers. By choosing a provider with a lower rate, you can save even more money on your electric bill. The potential for saving money is everywhere. It starts with comparing electric rates. Competing providers have different rates and your service will never suffer if you switch. Our chart makes it easy to compare the rates and you will soon be on your way to saving energy and money.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 makes it possible to receive credits and rebates for certain energy-saving investments. Items like solar water heaters, plug-in cars, and wind turbine systems equal a nice credit on your taxes. The credit is equal to 30% of the cost of the investment.

The federal government has made it even more worthwhile to “go green” while living in Mesquite, Texas or anywhere else in the country. By doing things that will ultimately save energy, you are reimbursed for part of the cost. This is the government’s way of encouraging citizens to save energy. As long as you make an energy-saving investment by December 31, you will qualify for the tax credit. The best part about the program is that you will ultimately be helping the environment and saving money.

Another way to save money is to compare the electric rates of competing electric providers. By using our comparison chart, you can quickly see how much money you will save. Your current electric provider might be the lowest rate in the Mesquite, Texas area. On the other hand, it may be the most expensive. Only by using our chart can you see the exact difference and make an informed decision.

Saving energy is important to the environment. Saving money is important to your budget. Take the first step to cheaper electric bills by using our free comparison chart. There is no obligation to switch providers. The only thing you stand to lose is high-priced electric rates.

In Houston Texas electricity service customers are beginning to see that choosing a variable electric rate plan and waiting for it to eventually go up is not the best choice.

The wait and see game works for awhile but eventually you can get stung as did Steve Smith who remodeled my house not but a few months ago.

We needed some drywall hung in the living room and some electrical rewiring done and me and Steve started talking. He mentioned that he used to get on a the cheapest variable electricity rate in Houston and wait and see.

If his rate started to go up to high he would simply shop around again and choose the next best offer out there at the time. He did this until one month electricity rates in Houston were sky high.

He could not find a good low priced variable electricity rate plan or fixed plan for that matter. He started to see how doing the wait and see game may work for a little while but you will eventually get burned.

He went ahead and bit the bullet and signed up for 6 months at a pretty high price for that time in Houston Texas. Fortunately after 6 months rates came back down to normal price levels.

He now is on a fixed electricity rate in Houston Texas and enjoys the price assurance a fixed rate offers and the time saved not having to continuously shop for Houston electricity companies every few months.

Steve is now out of the home remodelling business and has started a small sub sandwhich shop in the East Texas area. He used ElectricityBid to procure his commercial electricity rate and we look forward to working with him in the future when his contract comes up for renewal.

If you need to shop for commercial or residential electricity in Houston TX please use the compare tool at the top right by entering in your zip code. You can compare multiple Houston TX electricity companies and find the rate plan that makes the most sense for your situation.

Everyone is encouraged to do his or her part to save the environment. Residents of Lubbock, Texas need to make sure they do their part, too. One way to “live green” is to conserve energy by changing your consumption of electricity. In some countries, citizens are forced to conserve energy. There are even some places where the government dictates when people can take hot showers! In the land of the free, residents of Lubbock, Texas make their own choice about energy conservation.
If you want to do your part for the environment, there are various ways to save energy. One of the easiest ways is to turn off the lights. Often, people have several lights on in their homes, even in unoccupied rooms. By turning of lights that are not being used, you can save much-needed energy. Watering your lawn in the morning or evening is another way to save water and energy. The cooler morning and evening temperatures prevent the water from evaporating quickly, allowing your lawn to absorb more moisture.

Conserving energy leads to lower electric bills. In Lubbock County Texas there is no choice to choose a competitive electricity company as this area of Texas did not opt into electricity deregulation.

If you want to choose an alternate electricity supplier other than South Plains Electric Cooperative you unfortunately have no choice.

For new service or to inquire about an existing account, call (806) 775-7766

Global Warming Legislation may raise your Lubbock Texas electric rates

South Plains Electric Coop has taken steps to ask the EPA and federal government to pause their request for electric coops in Texas to meet global warming regulations involving emissions standards and retrofits on power plants, and transmission facilities.

Because electric coops serve a small amount of customers in their specific location they do not have the funds to adhere to expensive government regulations. When EPA regulations require your Lubbock electric coop to fix global warming they are asking the coop to spend millions of dollars to fix something that is still up for debate as to whether it even exists.
<!--

A recent news story admits that the research and numbers that produced the research article on global warming done by Al Gore and top scientists that led to his Nobel Peace Prize was way of the mark in regards to the factual data and numbers.

This recent discovery regarding Global Warming muddies the water even further on whether electric coops in Texas really need to spend this kind of money to control CO2 emissions into the air.

If TX electric coops do have to make these CO2 emissions changes it will drastically raise coop electricity rates that do not have the same economies of scale as do TXU Energy and Reliant Energy that have several million customers.

South Plains Electric Cooperative is joining with electric co-ops nationally to ask Congress for a much-needed timeout—a two-year moratorium on EPA regulations of carbon dioxide emissions. The agency’s regulation of power plant emissions under a law never intended for that purpose will certainly add costs to electricity generation and drive your bills higher.

A delay would give Congress the opportunity to fashion climate change legislation that protects you, our members, and keeps electric bills affordable. You can help by contacting your elected representatives in Washington and letting them know the importance of this issue.

Residents of Pasadena, Texas may soon see electric cars everywhere. Certain areas in Texas were picked to be the test market for Volt from Chevrolet. According to the US government the Volt is an electric car, not a hybrid car like others currently being sold but when the car entered the market it was discovered to be a hybrid like all the others.

The Volt is a car that will run on electricity for about 35 miles. That means that you will not be burning fuel during your morning drive to your Pasadena, Texas job. If the Volt and other electric cars are successful, there may soon be no need for fuel-driven cars. The negative to the Volt is that when comparing it’s fuel efficiency to other cars it doesn’t fair so well. After the initial 35 miles of driving with fuel ecomony at around 93 miles a gallon via electric power you are switched to gasoline fuel and you only get 37 miles to the gallon.

Note: we have done a conversion to show you what the electric power delivers in miles in miles per gallon of gasoline even though we are talking about kilowatt hours here. There are 33.7 kilowatt-hours in a gallon of gasoline. If you are paying 11 cents per kilowatt hour than that would cost $3.70 per gallon equivalent of gas. So in the case of an electric car you are paying more and you are not converting fuel at a 1 to 1 ratio therefore you are actually polluting the environment more it’s just concentrated at the power generation facility and not your city.

Saving our fossil fuels is a concern for everyone, including the residents of Pasadena, Texas. Electric cars appear to be a way to conserve these precious fuels and help the environment but in reality the power plants that create the electricity for the car are burning natural gas and oil. These fuels are not converting power at a 1 to 1 ratio. This means your car is inneficient simply because it uses electric power.

If you are considering an electric car in your future, you may probably wonder what it will do to your electric bill. After all, these cars have to be plugged in and your electric usage will rise. Fortunately, you have the freedom to choose your Pasadena, Texas electric provider which will allow you to find the cheapest rate.

Use our comparison chart to see the rates of area providers. You may or may not be using the cheapest electric service. By switching providers to one with a lower rate, you can purchase your electric car with no worries. Lower rates mean a lower electric bill. Get started now by using our comparison chart and see what a difference a few cents can make. When electric cars become the “norm”, you will be prepared because you will already be saving money on every kWh that you use.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has even been known to issue power watches. Power watches are issued during peak times of usage. Hot Texas summers mean people use their air conditioners more than usual. During these times of increased electric usage, following a few tips for conserving electricity will help you do your part to save energy and prevent electric shortages in Lewisville, Texas.

Set your thermostat to 78 degrees when you are home and 85 degrees when you are gone. These temperatures might seem extreme, especially in 110-degree weather, but if you use a fan while you are home, you will stay comfortable. When you are not home, there is no reason to waste cool air. By closing your drapes, you can still come home to a comfortable house while conserving energy.

Do not use your large appliances during times of power watches. Avoid doing laundry or running the dishwasher. Cook your foods in the microwave and save the oven for later. Even keeping your refrigerator and freezer closed unless necessary can help conserve energy.

Turn off lights and appliances that you are not actively using. If you are not in the bedroom, turn off the light. If you are not using your computer, shut it down. If everyone is watching one television, turn any other televisions off.

To save even more money, use our comparison chart to find cheaper electric rates. Our chart makes it easy to compare the rates of service providers in Lewisville, Texas. While you are busy conserving energy, you can lower your electric bill even more by switching service providers. Take a few minutes and let our handy comparison chart “show you the money”!
