I have signed up for a fixed rate with Cirro @ 9.6cents. I am now concerned and will look deeper into my contract. But, anything is better than 17.9cents from TXU.
What can I look for to find I am on a variable contract? I am into my second month of a 12 month contract.
Thanks in advance.

I know I want to save money on my electric, so when the info came in the mail I thought maybe? But after reading the few comments I will stay with TU electric and keep looking for a good alternative. Thanks for sharing your experience and comments.

I would NEVER sign a contract with StarTex. After my elderly father's carrier declared bankruptcy, he was dumped into a very high cost plan before we were able to secure new service for him. Unfortunately, we chose StarTexas. He left the state for six months and we turned off everything except his refrigerator and two lights that were on timers. At one point during this vacancy, StarTex' bill doubled to an amount in excess of $220. When I questioned this, they said "appliances must be defective." Since no appliances were on but refrigerator, I had it checked and it was fine. I asked - by phone and letter - for meter to be checked but never got a response. The bill dropped again the next month, but I have cancelled that service because of StarTex' lack of responsiveness to customer requests. New company started service March 11, but now have received another bill from StarTex. Tried to call them but can't sit on hold for two hours, so will have to try email. Not holding my breath for an answer, considering past experience with them.

I believe we are also on the Cirro "fixed" plan. Also, we live in Katy and are paying $40 to Centerpoint for distribution (?). Luckily our rate has not gone up, but I don't recommend this company.

I, unfortunately, just now realized I am on Cirro's variable 12 month plan. I am six months into it. I was on their fixed rate plan before and thought I was renewing for the same plan. I have the option of renewing for another 12 months on their current 12 month fixed rate plan called Smart Lock 12. Is this a good plan?

Thank you.
