Texas Electricity Companies Choice and Comparison
Residential Electric Rates in Texas are currently not very competitive. There are around 40 Retail Electric Providers and they all price right under the price-to-beat rate. The rates over the last several months have been around 12 - 16 cents per KWh. In comparison, commercial rates have averaged between 7 - 10 cents per KWh. January 2007 the Texas state government is doing away with the price-to-beat state mandated rate. This may allow the residential rates to see some much needed competitive pricing. If the incumbant providers begin pricing competitively the rest of the Retail Providers should follow. Start the process for finding low priced residential electricity.

Deregulation in Dallas Texas

May 2007

Is deregulation working? Some people think it is but others would completely disagree. What is the answer on this hot topic? Deregulation started during a volatile time in the natural gas market. Natural Gas was approaching historical high levels and when customers were given the ability to choose a provider. They found that the providers were now charging more then they had ever charged before and they could not understand why.

As summer approaches natural gas prices are rising higher and consumers are starting to wonder when this volatile market will offer some consistently lower electric rates. There is really no direct solution since there is a 90% correlation with natural gas rates and electric rates. For a low fixed priced electric rate you just have to hope you get in while the market is down. Typically the mild weather before summer is an ideal time to try.

An alternative to a fixed price commercial rate is being on a blended MCPE product and fixed price. Some commercial businesses qualify for this and we have some helpful information to get started on the next page. Dallas Texas Electricity choices >
